Daylight Saving Time

Springing forward is a pain in the ass, even for those of us who like daylight saving time. Still, I’d rather have an extra hour of daylight after work than before it. It’s not like I’m going to fix myself a decent breakfast or be to work on time.

Some people hate daylight saving time, of course. They cite a rise in heart attacks and car accidents the Monday after moving the clocks ahead an hour.

What they’re really against, however, is change.

The time of day doesn’t really exist. It’s just the thing we all choose to agree on (except for Newfoundland, Land of Canadian Contrariness, which is one and a half hours ahead). The human race stepped along just fine before clocks were invented. They probably just complained about the weather twice as much.

Make no mistake, I’m not criticizing anyone for resisting change or having a coronary because of an abstraction. That I totally understand. Not only are most of my problems self-inflicted, they are self-invented as well.

All I’m saying is that it’s nice to see the sun after I’m done teaching at 7 p.m. (8:30 p.m. NFT).

Yes, I’m Late

I should have gotten this posted last week. Oops.
